Bile and Hatred from supposed Independence Supporters

 'The absolute hatred with which Alba was treated by brainwashed, goldfish-memoried SNP members under Sturgeon’s direction was jaw-dropping and horrifying. Even six months ago I would never have believed a pro-indy party led by the man who took the SNP from a nutter-fringe irrelevance to the all-conquering behemoth of Scottish politics could have secured less than 10% of the list votes of SNP supporters (especially when the alternative was completely wasting those votes), but in the end it never even got close to that figure because Sturgeon has turned the SNP into a hyper-obedient Stalinist personality cult.'

I agree with every word stated above from Stu Campbell yesterday. 

I am fed up with the bile, hatred, threatening behaviour, bullying, and everything else that other supposed supporters of Scottish Independence have put my way since I joined Alba (and before when I was in SNP Provan with the hateful Anne McLaughlin MP in charge). I have left nearly all the independence groups on Facebook as I don't want to be associated with these people who treat others so shabbily, so spitefully, so cruelly and so unfairly.

I have removed all traces of being a Yes campaign supporter from my front windows, the first time since 2013. I also will not be attending any more marches for independence for the time being as I don't want to be around thugs, bigots, homophobes, idiots, and the horrible people who now seem to infect what is called the 'Yes Movement'.

What has not changed is that I believe Scotland would still be better off even with the above horrific people in charge than it would be if it stayed dominated by England and Westminster.

However my only outlet for this belief will be working for Alba. I shall never vote SNP and Green again until the removal of the current leadership and their policy direction after what I have been through.

I won't however be wasting my time or money on the following...

1. The National - whole collection now in bin.
2. Wee Ginger Dug - don't get me started on this piece of so called humanity
3. Bella Caledonia - such a pale and insipid and worryingly ignorant in comparison to what it was during the original indyref
4. Newsnet Scotland - this was my original go to site. Now it isn't any good for anything

And the biggest change since January 2020 is my opinion of Nicola Sturgeon. On January 31st 2020 she basically said she was capitulating to the will of England over Brexit having promised that Scotland will not be dragged out of the EU against its will, but it was and she allowed it to happen. She has proved to be the worst leader of the SNP to have ever held the post, alienating so many people in the independence movement it is unbelievable. She has gone from being admired to being a charlatan in just over a year.

So there you go. I am not expecting independence to happen any time soon as the SNP will keep kicking it down the road having done that with so many other things they promised to do after their last Scottish election win in 2015. Nicola has made it quite clear through her useless answers that no substantive work has been done on the independence cause since 2015.

I hope those still involved in the SNP and Greens don't get too downhearted with the results of this stagnation, but then again you are all a bit daft as you have allowed it to happen and to continue for the next 5 years by the way you voted.

We could have been negotiating independence from the UK at the moment with a view to putting the agreement to the people in a few years time, as before you start a great deal of groundwork has to be done (as last time it took 3 years).

But obviously the Scottish independence voters don't actually want independence any time soon. They are therefore quite happy to allow Scotland's resources to continue to be squandered by London, for people to die earlier as Scotland is so poor (whilst also being the richest country in Europe in terms of natural resources), for nuclear weapons to continue to be sited on the Clyde (with more now on order than we had before) with its environmental damage, not to mention the danger to the Scottish population, and for the Scottish Parliament to be undermined and its powers whittled away by London with its internal market bill. I am not, but you have negated the opportunity for this.

I don't really want to live in the intolerant, misogynistic, doormat country that I now stay in, where people are so easily misled. But then again Nicola even squandered any way to get out of it by not doing anything and allowing us to be removed from the EU against our will.

I hope I shall see Scottish independence, plus a return to the EU via the EEA as Alba had in its manifesto, within my lifetime. I continue to live in hope.

Alba Party Party Political Broadcast April 2021

 

A lot has changed since 2016. The arguments for Both Votes SNP – arguments I made – I’ll leave to those who still agree with the SNP’s current tack. Likewise, the arguments for SNP/Greens are much the same was they were in 2016. So one might ask why? The simple reason is one that I have highlighted on the Wilderness for some years now – urgency. I do not believe we have the luxury of a Section 30 route to independence, & I do not think we have the time to do much else. Certainly I don’t think we can afford to wait until 2023, the SNP’s latest projection.

Alba are suggesting something rather more bold, and something that I believe is rather more necessary.
